The Miracle Blanket

It is indeed a miracle.

I'm laid up today with Mastitis (a horrid breast infection), so Kyle is at home with me giving me some much needed time to rest. I have a few spare minutes, so I thought I would write about the more important things in life, and pay homage to a very special piece of cloth.

I'm not usually one for product placement, but this blanket is the only way Kyle and I get any sort of sleep at night. After about 2 weeks of completely sleepless nights, I was desperately looking for some sort of relief! Our sweet, cuddly baby would only sleep when held! Nights were loooong. And with absolutely no sleep at nights, days became very difficult. I stumbled across a few recommendations for this blanket, but was skeptical at first. However, after about 6 weeks of successful use and Baby sleeping for extended periods of time in his crib, I'm sold! It's essentially a swaddle blanket, but one that our baby can't escape from. Wes was swaddled in the hospital, but when we came home I didn't have much success with keeping him tightly swaddled. He always seemed to come out of the swaddle, and I assumed that he didn't like being so tightly wrapped since he continually "unwrapped" himself. Wrong. Baby just needed a swaddle blanket that would contain all of his super-strong baby kicks and punches while sleeping.

Here's how it's different from a regular swaddle blanket: a flap of fabric goes over and around the top of each arm and is tucked behind baby's back to keep his arms snuggly by his side. His feet slip into a pocket at the bottom. A short piece of fabric wraps around the top of the babe, and a long piece wraps twice around him to secure everything together. No velcro. 100% cotton. All good things.

It sounds like a lot, but it only takes a few seconds to swaddle this babe up!

There have been a few times where our little one does manage to free himself, even from the super-swaddle, causing him to wake up and cry. Many of those instances he is sound asleep before I even finish wrapping him back up!

We currently own three of these blankets (spit up on one, no problem!), and it is my baby shower gift of choice. Thank you, Miracle Blanket, for allowing my baby sound slumber, and me a bit of my sanity back.

Here is Kyle displaying appropriate Miracle Blanket technique:

(Please ignore my husband's cloak/cape thing).

And if nothing I've said has sold you, just look how happy!
