An Update .....as the people (Dad) demanded.....

You'd think with all the "free time" I have on my hands I would do a little better with updating. At least that's what I thought back in May.

"Ah, yes summer. Nothing to do but sleep, eat overpriced snow cones and update the 'ol blog."

Guess not.

Turns out there's not as much free time as I planned for (is there ever??), so I apologize. But let's be honest, no one really cares except my dear Dad who assures me he regularly checks for updates and is often disappointed. This one's for you, Dad. Even though you already know all of this stuff anyway.

Top 10 Highlights of Summer this Far (in no particular order):

10. Yogen Fruz (at any time the opportunity presents itself). If you come see me I will take you. Probably more than once.

9. Having some time to do some shopping.... mmmmm yesssssss.....

ClothesMosaic

8. Getting to watch Kyle baptize one of our 10th grade students in the ocean at camp (even if I had to watch it on video).

7. Reading this book and adding it to my all-time favorites list (you should read it too):

6. Celebrating this guy on his birthday! Happy SCHFIFTY-FIVE, Dad!

Don't worry, his arm is better now. :-)

5. Camp Christie Part II

Julie came to stay with me for a week while Kyle was away at camp. We didn't take any pictures this go-around, but we do have this one from the original Camp Christie four years ago. At the time, I was taking summer school classes in College Station and Julie came to live with me for two weeks. It's hard to believe she's the one off at school these days.

4. Getting to FINALLY wrap my arms around this girl's neck:

I.love.this.girl. So happy and thankful she is here for the next couple of months. Many memories to be made. Many, MANY laughs to be had.

3. Our 3rd annual "Fireworks on the Lake" for the 4th!

This year was the best yet. We take our boat out and drop anchor in the middle of the lake, and there are literally fireworks right over head from just about every direction. This year we decided to provide our own musical accompaniment, featuring "Queen." It was epic.

Sadly, I didn't take this picture. Would have been cool if I had. I was all ready to try some cool new photography this year but pulled out a camera with a dead battery. So sad. But let's be honest, it would have turned out at least this good...if not better. Right?

2. Having the opportunity to lead 11th and 12th grade girls in a weekly Bible Study. This opportunity was one of my favorite things of LIFE and I'm so excited about it again this year! Not sure what we will be studying yet (that's my project for today), but I'm thinking maybe this one:

I haven't done it since my freshman year of college. Has anyone done it more recently? Thoughts?

AND FINALLY:

1. That we will be here......

........... heading to the great state of Alaska in less than 48 hours!! Woooohooooo!

Isn't it crazy how busy we can be while still only working a little? You have been doing some amazing things this summer! Have fun in Alaska. We were so close to booking that cruise, but decided on Costa Rica. You will have to update on how it was! Have a great time!
