It's raining today.
I love hearing about how other people hear God's voice. God sings lullabies. He sings in different ways to different people. Some hear Him near the ocean. Some receive His words in the middle of the night when all is still and quiet. What lullaby does God sing to you?
Mine is rain.
I find it ironic that God reaches me this way. Many people associate rain with intense pain. Times of darkness, despair. Times when no matter how they try, they can't hear God's voice through the storm.
But I hear peace. I hear renewel. I hear God say, "You are mine. Yesterday is gone, today is new."
I hear Him beckon me to follow Him.
But mostly I hear Him say, "Rest. In me. Right now. This moment. This rain - it's for you. I made it for you because I know you love it so, and I love you."
And my heart can't help but respond. Sometimes before I even realize it. It stills, it quiets. It remembers my Savior. No matter where I am or what I am doing. My heart cries out its most humble, gracious cry. And He fills.
And I am at peace.
Oh, Jesus, bring the rain.
