Today is my graduation day! (Well....it would be if I were walking....) I have completed 2 years worth of course work, 400 hours of practicum (essentially working for free), an internship, passed my COMPS and Praxis exams, and completed an obscene amount of paperwork. At long last, I finally hold a Master's degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas (gig 'em!) and can begin practicing as a Speech-Language Pathologist! I will begin my CFY (Clinical Fellows Year....sort of like a residency) on January 5th at my new job! I will be working with Pre-K kiddos, which I could not be more excited about!
Now, don't get the wrong idea. I loved grad school. LOVED it. I was streched, challenged, and learned so much about a field I am so incredibly passionate about. And probably one of the biggest blessings was being able to complete all of this alongside some wonderful friends. I don't think I could have made it through without these ladies! We recently went out to enjoy dinner at Fireside Pies to celebrate the finish line! Here we are:
Back: Emily, Christy, Alyssa, Poco, Tara, me
Front: Lindsey and Ellen
They truly made school so fun these last two years!
So here's to finishing a chapter of life, and beginning another. And to friendships, new jobs, no more, "I can't I have to study," and to changing the world: one word at a time :-)
Thank you, Jesus, for all that You have done.
All that we have accomplished You have done for us.
